Anniversary Event Five of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering: The First Preparatory Meeting for the Alumni Association was Successfully Held

Since its establishment 40 years ago, Shenzhen University has always adhered to the spirit of the motto "Self-reliance, Self-discipline, Self-improvement", nurturing outstanding talents. Many alumni of Shenzhen University have not only contributed significantly to the construction and development of the city of Shenzhen but have also given back to their alma mater, making immense contributions to the development of Shenzhen University. In anticipation of the 40th anniversary celebration of Shenzhen University, the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering held the first preparatory meeting for the Alumni Association on April 14th in Room 1421 of the Zhiyuan Building at the Canghai Campus, establishing a close connection between the college and its alumni. The meeting saw participation from Lin Bing, Secretary of the College Party Committee, Lin Jilin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, as well as instructors Lin Na, Li Kaixin, and Huang Weibiao, along with 15 alumni, engaging in in-depth discussions and exchanges on specific matters related to the establishment of the alumni association, future directions of work, and the college's anniversary celebrations.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin, who warmly welcomed the alumni for sparing their valuable time to attend amidst their busy schedules. Each alumnus introduced themselves and engaged in enthusiastic conversations with the leadership and faculty, reminiscing about their fond memories of campus life, marveling at the tremendous changes at Shenzhen University, and feeling proud of its remarkable achievements. Responding to alumni requests, Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin gave a brief overview of the current state of the college, including its development history, faculty strength, and academic focus.

Secretary Lin Bing passionately recounted the school's development journey, acknowledging the significant contributions of the alumni to the college's growth. After forty years of construction and development, Shenzhen University is entering its best period of development in history, albeit facing crucial challenges. The vast body of alumni serves as witnesses and participants in the college's journey from small to large, from weak to strong, and they are also invaluable resources for the college's future development. It is hoped that alumni, together with their alma mater, will uphold Shenzhen University's motto of "Self-reliance, Self-discipline, Self-improvement", focusing on building a core alumni platform centered around "communication", striving to create an alumni development platform with "service" as its purpose, and vigorously promoting an alumni cooperation platform with "win-win" as its goal. This involves actively connecting and uniting alumni from all walks of life, strengthening the ties between the college and alumni from various regions, as well as among alumni themselves, serving society, serving the alma mater, serving the vast alumni community, and contributing to the development of the college, as well as the progress of the national and local economy and society.

Teacher Li Kaixin provided an introduction to the preliminary work of preparing the alumni association, while Teacher Lin Na introduced the candidates for the Alumni Association Council. Teacher Huang Weibiao gave a detailed explanation of the publicity work for the college's anniversary celebration, with Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin supplementing the discussion and offering relevant opinions on the work of the alumni association and its development direction.

Subsequently, Wei Feng, the deputy head of the alumni association preparatory group, shared his thoughts on establishing the alumni association, expressing the desire to establish closer connections with all alumni, creating a sense of belonging for each alumnus, and suggesting initiatives such as setting up a public WeChat account for the alumni association, cross-linking with alumni associations from other colleges, and visiting alumni enterprises.

The main focus of this preparatory meeting was the discussion of the draft constitution of the Alumni Association of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, inviting everyone to jointly deliberate and improve it. Leaders, alumni, and faculty and staff engaged in in-depth discussions on the detailed rules of the alumni association constitution and specific matters related to its establishment, offering numerous constructive suggestions. Alumni Chen Zhizhu proposed further strengthening the collaboration between alumni and the college to enhance the college's capability in transforming scientific research achievements into practical applications. Alumni Wang Yubiao provided many suggestions for revising the constitution to make its content more standardized and detailed. Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin supplemented the content of the constitution and proposed enhancing communication and cooperation between the college and alumni, stating that the college will further streamline the process for alumni admission and provide convenience for alumni.

In conclusion, Secretary Lin Bing summarized the content of the meeting, once again expressing heartfelt thanks to all the alumni for their attendance and expressing the hope that the alumni association of the college will continue to improve and become an important bridge for communication between the college and its alumni. After the meeting, the leaders, alumni, and faculty and staff went to the Liyuan Food Court in the South District for dinner. Thus, the first preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Alumni Association of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering concluded successfully.
