On the afternoon of May 13th, the inaugural alumni association establishment conference of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering was grandly held at the Broadcasting Hall of the Information Center on the second floor of the L3 Science and Technology Building, Canghai Campus. Vice President Li Yonghua of Shenzhen University delivered a speech, with the presence and witness of He Yanhui, Director of the Alumni Association Office. Also in attendance were Lin Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Liu Yong, Executive Dean, Wang Nan, Associate Dean, Sun Yiling, Associate Dean, Lin Jilin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Professor Lin Xiaodong, representatives of the college's alumni, as well as faculty and student representatives, totaling more than one hundred attendees.

The conference was chaired by Lin Jilin. After the solemn rendition of the national anthem, the conference officially commenced.

Vice President Li Yonghua's Speech

On behalf of President Mao Junfa and Secretary Li Qingquan, Li Yonghua welcomed all alumni of the School of Physics and Optoelectronics to "go home". Li Yonghua said that the school party committee attaches great importance to the work of the alumni association. Alumni are an integral and important part of the school. "Caring for alumni is caring for students, and caring for students is caring for future alumni." At the moment when the whole school is comprehensively promoting the theme education activities of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Shenzhen University, congratulations to the School of Physics and Optoelectronics Engineering for holding the first alumni representative conference and electing the first alumni council. It is hoped that the alumni association of the college will serve the majority of alumni well and promote the work of the alumni association in a solid manner. It is expected that together with all alumni, we will carry forward the spirit of "self-reliance, self-discipline, and self-improvement" of Shenzhen University, gather the strength of alumni, teachers and students, and build and witness a beautiful new chapter of Shenzhen University.

Alumni Association Work Report

The staff read out the work report of the Alumni Association of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, introducing the overview, development process, and organizational structure of the alumni association to the alumni. The report summarized the highlights of the alumni association's work from aspects such as the association's charter, alumni activities, and academic events, and reported on the key work plan for 2023.

Address by Lin Bing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering

Lin Bing first welcomed the arrival of leaders, guests, and alumni, and expressed gratitude to the hardworking preparatory work team responsible for the establishment of the alumni association. Lin Bing reviewed the outstanding achievements Deep University has made in the past 40 years since its establishment, as well as the significant contributions of alumni to the development of Shenzhen. He briefly introduced the basic situation of the school, pointing out that the school not only has a large number of students and faculty but also boasts strong teaching staff, high academic levels, and strong research capabilities. He expressed the school's commitment to continue to solidly carry out its work, comprehensively enhance the four major disciplines, and further improve the academic standards. Lin Bing emphasized that the alumni association serves as a bridge between alumni and their alma mater. He succinctly summarized the founding purpose of the alumni association with the four-character phrase "Where fate leads, with sincerity added, knowing and loving each other, and working together to achieve." He hoped that alumni of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering would "care for the alma mater, support the alma mater, and understand the alma mater," and contribute ideas and strategies for the development of the alumni association and the university, collectively "gathering stars and consolidating forces" to contribute to the construction of Shenzhen University as a world-class comprehensive university and a socialist model university.

Alumni Association Charter and Organizational Structure

Lin Jilin explained the charter of the school's alumni association to the representatives present, covering the nature, purpose, principles, operations, organizational structure, membership management, financial management, and event management of the alumni association. The alumni representatives reviewed and approved the charter by a show of hands. The meeting also approved the list of advisors, honorary presidents, and honorary secretaries of the school's alumni association; and elected the directors of the alumni association through a vote. The first session of the alumni association's directors was elected, and the Executive Council was elected, including the president, executive vice president cum secretary-general, vice president, and vice secretary-general. Li Yonghua and Lin Xiaodong were elected as advisors, Lin Bing and Liu Yong were elected as honorary presidents, Lin Jilin was elected as an honorary secretary, Wei Feng was elected as president cum chairman of the board of directors, Wang Yubiao was elected as executive vice president cum secretary-general, Lai Xiaocong, Zhou Zhongwei, and Zhang Zhitang were elected as vice presidents, and Wen Junji, Liu Tao, and Li Kaixin were elected as vice secretaries-general.
