The 2024 Second Executive Council Meeting of the Alumni Association of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering Successfully Held

On November 1st, the 2024 Second Executive Council Meeting of the Alumni Association of theCollegeof Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shenzhen University was held in Meeting Room 1421 of Zhiyuan Building. The meeting was attended by the President of the Alumni Association, Wei Feng,Executive Vice President and Secretary-General, Wang Yubiao,Executive Council representatives Zhou Zhongwei, Zhang Zhitian, Wen Junji, Liu Tao, Chen Zhizhu, Li Wei, Zhang Jiefeng, Liu Guidong,Party Secretary and Honorary President of the Alumni Association, Lin Bing,Executive Vice Dean and Honorary President of the Alumni Association, Liu Liwei,Deputy Party Secretary and Honorary Secretary of the Alumni Association, Long Xiaoli,Undergraduate Counselor and Executive Council Member of the Alumni Association, Zhang Peng,and Graduate Counselor and Executive Council Member of the Alumni Association, Xie Haowei. The meeting was hosted by Wang Yubiao.

The meeting began with a speech by Liu Liwei. She warmly welcomed the alumni who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the meeting. She then reviewed the work of the Alumni Association in 2024 and expressed sincere gratitude for the hard work of all participants. She emphasized that the achievements of the Alumni Association in various aspects, as well as the progress of the school in teaching, research, and talent development, would not have been possible without the strong support and assistance of the alumni. Looking to the future, she expressed the hope that the school would continue to maintain close communication and cooperation with the Alumni Association, working hand in hand to create greater success.Thus,she saiditwould not only be a continuation of the sincere friendship between the faculty, staff, and alumni, but also a shared aspiration and relentless pursuit for both parties.

The meeting then elected Liu Guidong, an alumnus from the class of 2013, as Vice Secretary-General of the Alumni Association. Additionally, Zhang Peng and Xie Haowei were elected as Executive Council members.

The meeting continued in a lively and pragmatic atmosphere. Under the organization of Wang Yubiao, all participants engaged in a comprehensive and detailed discussion on the draft management measures for the Alumni Fund. They exchanged ideas on the fund’s sources, scope of use, supervision, and other issues. Everyone offered their opinions, contributing to a fruitful discussion that helped improve and optimize the draft. Several measures were also agreed upon to advance the work related to the Alumni Fund.

Subsequently, Liu Guidong organized a discussion on the work plan for the second half of 2024. In light of the actual work of both the Alumni Association and the school, attendees discussed the theme, form, timing, personnel, and other aspects of upcoming activities. They developed a practical and feasible work plan.

As the meeting drew to a close, Lin Bing expressed sincere thanks to the alumni representatives for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend. He recounted the outstanding contributions made by alumni in advancing the development of the school. He also proposed ideas and suggestions for areas of the Alumni Association’s work that require optimization and improvement, and expressed the hope that the Alumni Association would gather more strength from alumni to further promote the school's high-quality development. He envisioned a deeper and longer-lasting emotional connection between the alumni and the school.

Wei Feng gave the final remarks, offering heartfelt thanks to the school for its dedication and enthusiasm in alumni affairs. He pointed out that promoting the work of the Alumni Association in a timely and comprehensive manner is of great importance and far-reaching significance, as it is crucial to enhancing alumni relations and increasing the influence of the Association. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that the alumni and the school would continue to move forward together, step by step, creating new milestones and contributing to an even brighter future.

With that, the 2024 Second Executive Council Meeting of the Alumni Association of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering concluded successfully.
