On the afternoon of March 2, 2023, the College held the "first ideological and political lesson" of the spring semester of 2023 in the multifunctional hall on the first floor of the Zhiyi Building. A total of 123 students from 9 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral student branches participated in this lesson. The lecture, titled "Learning from the 19th National Congress of the Party and Striving for a New Journey - Understanding the Great Achievements of the Country in the Past Decade from the Report of the 19th National Congress of the Party," was delivered by Lin Bing, the Secretary of the College Party Committee.

The lecture was divided into three main parts: the theme of the 19th National Congress of the Party, the work of the past five years and the great achievements of the new era in the past decade, and the vigorous efforts to build a socialist modernized strong country. Through vivid comparisons of China's economic performance over the years, the great achievements of the country were vividly presented, including the timely completion of poverty alleviation tasks, the comprehensive planning for the "14th Five-Year Plan," the significant strategic achievements in epidemic prevention and control, and the significant achievements in economic and social development.

Through understanding the work of the past five years and the great achievements of the new era in the past decade, it is fully recognized that we must adhere to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics and uphold the main theme of the times. Finally, Lin Bing addressed the students of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, emphasizing three points: firstly, to firmly establish ideals and beliefs, to adhere to the faith in Marxism and socialism with Chinese characteristics, to learn from history, to integrate the spirit of the Party's centenary with the spirit of the university, and to move forward with confidence; secondly, to hone solid skills, to diligently study professional knowledge, to actively engage in scientific research, and to strive towards the goal of talent development; thirdly, to shoulder the mission of the times, to be rooted in the "Dual Zones," to care for the world, to be responsible for seeking happiness for the people and the rejuvenation of the nation, and to be the most beautiful dream pursuers. Party member students and student cadres should play a leading role, take initiative, actively assist classmates and teachers in seeking knowledge and innovation, epidemic prevention and control, promoting good academic atmosphere, and building campus culture, and contribute their youth to the college, university, and society.
