Administrative Affairs

Minutes of the Conference: "Evaluation Committee Meeting for Promotion of Pre-Appointment and Tenured Teaching Positions" (Shenzhen University College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering Minutes [2023] No. 9).

Undergraduate Teaching Work

  1. On April 13th, the registration, information collection, and data reporting work for the 2023 Adult Degree English Examination invigilators were completed.

  2. On April 10th, Vice Dean Wang Nan organized a meeting for the selection of 2023 undergraduate graduation thesis samples.

Graduate Work

  1. On April 9th, the re-examination work for the enrollment of transfer students for the 2023 Master's degree program was completed. Our college plans to admit 105 master's students, including: 12 in Physics, 9 in Optical Engineering, 30 in Instrumentation Engineering (including 5 joint training quotas with Zhongshan), 33 in Optoelectronic Information Engineering (including 4 joint training quotas with Zhongshan), and 21 in Nuclear Energy Engineering.

  2. On the morning of April 13th, the Academic Degrees Committee of the college held a meeting to review outstanding doctoral and master's degree theses for 2022. It is proposed to recommend 5 doctoral academic theses, 4 master's academic theses, and 4 master's professional degree theses for the final review organized by the Graduate School of the university.

  3. This week, the detailed rules for the recruitment of graduate students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions in 2023 were formulated, and the work plan for midterm teaching inspection of graduate students for this semester was developed.

  4. On April 14th, assistance was provided to the Shenzhen International Quantum Research Institute in organizing a promotional event for the joint training program for prospective graduate students in the field of Optoelectronic Information Engineering for the year 2023.

Postdoctoral Work

  1. On April 10th, the approval work for the application of the 2023 Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program was completed. Among them, a total of 5 postdoctoral researchers applied for the Optical Engineering Mobile Station, including 1 from our college.

  2. On April 12th, the approval work for the 73rd batch of general funding applications for the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation was completed. Among them, a total of 82 postdoctoral researchers applied for the Optical Engineering Mobile Station; our college had a total of 27 postdoctoral researchers applied.

  3. On April 14th, the approval work for the 5th batch of special funding (pre-station) applications for the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation was completed. This application is for newly recruited postdoctoral researchers. Among them, a total of 3 prospective postdoctoral researchers applied for entry into the Optical Engineering Mobile Station, including 1 from our college.

  4. On April 14th, the approval work for the 16th batch of special funding (mid-station) applications for the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation was completed. Among them, a total of 16 postdoctoral researchers applied, including 4 from our college.

  5. This week, the work of registering newly hired postdoctoral researchers for April 2023 continued. A total of 3 postdoctoral researchers completed their registration this week, including 2 new hires from our college.

  6. Postdoctoral Affairs: This week, a total of 1 application for entry into the postdoctoral station was approved, 3 applications for leaving the station were processed; 2 applications for leaving the school and 3 applications for extension were handled; and more than 10 applications for thesis proposal defense, midterm assessment, and final assessment were reviewed. Foreign Affairs Affairs: This week, 3 cases of approval for faculty to go abroad for official business were processed.

Scientific Research

  1. On April 9th-10th, in order to implement the important instructions of the central leadership on the series of research and development of medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals, and to continue to do a good job in related research on nuclear medicine, providing support for national strategic and policy-making, Academician Zhao Xiageng, the leader of the "Independent Research on China's Nuclear Medicine Health Industry Chain" project, visited Shenzhen University to conduct research. Academician Zhao and his team visited the micro-reactor and held discussions with relevant researchers in our college.

  2. On April 11th, for the submission requirements of the Shenzhen Municipal Archives Office's "Local Chronicles Data Yearbook," "Shenzhen Yearbook," "Shenzhen Education Yearbook," the Nanshan District Archives Office's "Nanshan Yearbook," and the local chronicles data yearbook, the college submitted the latest personal resumes of Professors Wang Yiping, Qu Junle, and Wen Qiao to the university's Science and Technology Department.

  3. On April 14th, after the reopening of the application system for the National Natural Science Foundation's Outstanding Youth Science Fund Project (Overseas), our college added 2 new applicants for overseas outstanding youth, totaling 8 individuals relying on our college to apply for overseas outstanding youth projects.

  4. On April 14th, the Shenzhen Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, the South China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the China Environmental News jointly organized the launching ceremony of the Shenzhen 4·15 National Security Day Nuclear Safety Propaganda and Education Activity, as well as the initiation ceremony of Shenzhen's nuclear and radiation safety knowledge popularization. Associate Dean Luo Jingtian represented the college in attending the event and conducted interactive publicity activities.

Laboratory and Equipment Management

  1. On April 12th, in accordance with the requirements of the "Circular of the Office of the Education Department of Guangdong Province on Soliciting Opinions on the Draft of the Education Industry Standard 'Fire Safety Management Regulations for Higher Education Laboratory (Draft for Solicitation of Comments)'", opinions were solicited across the college on the education industry standard "Fire Safety Management Regulations for Higher Education Laboratories" drafted by the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Education and the National Fire Rescue Bureau.

  2. Cooperating with the third-party company, Shenzhen Shihe Safety Technology Consulting Co., Ltd., a safety assessment was conducted on the teaching laboratories in our college's Zhiyuan Building.

  3. Completed the promotion and education work on biosafety for the National Security Education Day on April 15th; completed the compilation of the annual budget for undergraduate teaching laboratory consumables for the year 2023.

Student Affairs

  1. On the afternoon of April 10th, the "Liyuan Self-improvement Star" selection meeting was held. Lin Jilin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and representatives of counselors organized the evaluation panel. After anonymous recommendations and voting, it was proposed to recommend student Zeng Chaojie to participate in the school's "Liyuan Self-improvement Star" selection, and to recommend two other students including Shi Wenfa to receive the "College Self-improvement Star" award.

  2. To further improve the career counseling skills of counselors and better provide professional services for student employment and career development, the Student Affairs Department held a career counseling process and technical training from April 13th to 15th.

  3. To strengthen national security education and confidentiality education for the main cadres of the school's youth organizations and student societies, the Party Committee Security Department, the Party Committee Student Affairs Department, and the Youth League Committee jointly held a special training on national security education and confidentiality education on the afternoon of April 15th.

  4. On the morning of April 12th, the college organized 14 prospective doctoral students (including mechanical and civil engineering) to visit and exchange at Shenzhen Technician College.

  5. On the afternoon of April 14th, the college held the first preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Alumni Association. A total of 15 alumni representatives from the graduate and undergraduate classes of 1985 to 2018 attended the meeting. Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin organized the meeting, introduced the college's situation and the work of the school and department for the "Three Self Four Excellence, Pursuing First-Class" anniversary celebration. The meeting discussed the articles and structure of the alumni association; recommended candidates for the chairman, executive vice chairman, and secretary-general positions; and decided to hold the establishment conference of the college alumni association on May 7th. Party Secretary Lin Bing attended the meeting and provided guidance. Teachers from the Alumni Office introduced the preparations for the alumni association, recommendations for directors, and activities promotion. The meeting achieved good expected results.

  6. This week, progress was made in the construction of the college's Chinese and English websites. The Student Affairs Office completed the background design for the welcome website; business units such as research, photonics department, alumni affairs, and graduate student activities submitted English drafts according to the work arrangement for updating the college's English website. A total of 14 articles were published on the official WeChat account of the college this week, and 1 video was released.

Party Building and Party Affairs

1. On the afternoon of April 12, all middle-level cadres, party secretaries and party building organizers attended the mobilization and deployment meeting for the theme education of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Party committee secretaries, deputy secretaries, party secretaries and party building organizers attended the training meeting.

2.On the afternoon of April 13th, democratic recommendation activities were carried out. Approximately 70 people participated in the recommendation discussions, and about 90 people participated in the recommendation meetings.

3. On the morning of April 14, a mobilization meeting for the theme education of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was organized. Members of the leadership team of the institute, members of the Party Committee, and secretaries of each party branch attended. The first topic was to study A work meeting on the theme education of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was held in Beijing, and Xi Jinping delivered an important speech. At the meeting, Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin introduced the situation, President Liu Yong made a mobilization speech, and Secretary Lin Bing made a summary speech.

4. On the morning of April 14, a study meeting of the Party Committees Theoretical Study Center Group was held. At the meeting, the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinpings important speech at the National Two Sessions and the spirit of the National Two Sessions were deeply studied and implemented.

5. On the morning of April 14, a Party Committee meeting was held. The first topic was to study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinpings important speech at the Second Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the spirit of the plenary session. At the meeting, 17 probationary members were converted to full members and 14 probationary members were accepted.

6.On the afternoon of April 14th, the secretary of the college discipline inspection committee, members of the discipline inspection committee, and discipline inspectors participated in the "Study on Discipline Inspection and Supervision Work in Universities in the New Era" organized by the school disciplinary supervision office.
