Administrative Affairs
On April 17th, Xia Hengchao, Deputy Director of the Tongchuan Science and Technology Bureau, visited the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at Shenzhen University for an exchange visit. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation models, exchanged experiences, and expressed the hope that the research results of the college could align with new industries such as Tongchuan aerospace technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, and biomedical science, sparking new ideas and achieving tangible results.
Undergraduate Teaching Affairs
On April 20th, the School successfully held the fourth session of the "Innovation Navigation Lecture" series: "Introduction to the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics and Quantum Entanglement," with a lecture by Professor Ge Weikun from Tsinghua University. The atmosphere was enthusiastic, with nearly three hundred students attending the lecture.
Routine academic affairs: This week, the school completed the qualification exemption interviews for physics (normal) teachers, as well as the compilation and submission of grades. It also completed the review and entry of professional internship grades for physics and nuclear engineering majors, and conducted a survey on the course completion status and graduation difficulties for the first batch of expected graduating students.
Graduate Affairs
Formulated the method for allocating master's supervisor guidance indicators for the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering in 2023. Organized and mobilized teachers from the college to actively apply for various teaching reform projects for graduate students in 2023.
Based on the notice issued by the Graduate School regarding further strengthening the quality of thesis review, the school formulated a work plan and prepared for the review of thesis review results.
Conducted midterm teaching inspections this semester, including classroom teaching inspections and examination of training materials. Held midterm comprehensive assessments for academic master's students in the Optical Engineering and Physics majors of the 2021 cohort.
Completed the announcement of the list of outstanding graduate student thesis papers for the class of 2022, submitted the selection results, and recommended 5 doctoral academic degree theses, 4 master's academic degree theses, and 4 master's professional degree theses for the final review by the Graduate School.
On April 20th, assisted in organizing the second joint training project promotion meeting for prospective graduate students in the field of optoelectronic information engineering at the Shenzhen International Quantum Research Institute for the year 2023. Conducted interviews for master's admissions from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, intending to admit 1 person.
On April 21st, held a training seminar for new supervisors and a symposium for graduate student representatives. Detailed interpretations of the responsibilities of graduate supervisors, graduate training objectives, and various aspects of graduate student recruitment, training, degrees, competitions, and employment were provided. In-depth discussions and detailed answers were given to students' questions regarding academic affairs, training processes, research achievements, awards, thesis defenses, logistical support, catering, accommodation, graduation, and employment.
Postdoctoral Affairs
On April 21st, according to the school's requirements, submitted applications for the "Lixin Incentive Plan" for postdoctoral researchers who joined in April. One newly recruited postdoctoral researcher applied for the Lixin Incentive Plan this month.
Routine postdoctoral affairs: This week, a total of 3 applications for admission to postdoctoral research stations were approved, and 2 applications for leaving the station were processed. Six applications for leaving the school and four applications for extension were processed. Over 10 applications for opening, midterm, and final assessment defenses were reviewed. In terms of foreign affairs, one application for official overseas travel by faculty members was processed.
Scientific Research
On April 17th, the results of the 24th China Patent Award evaluation were announced. Professor Guo Chunyu's research team from our institute's patent was pre-awarded the China Patent Excellence Award.
On April 20th, a delegation of 10 personnel led by Colonel Ruan Haibo from the Nuclear Equipment and Technology Department of the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission visited our university. They conducted research on the related technological development needs in the nuclear field, research teams, achievements, facilities, and discussed cooperation on nuclear projects. President Mao Junfa, Vice President Zhang Xueji, leaders from the Department of Science and Technology, Graduate School, and our institute attended the symposium.
On April 21st, the institute held a discussion meeting on the selection of key science and technology projects for the year 2023 in Shenzhen. The meeting was chaired by Executive Dean Liu Yong, attended by department heads, and leaders of various research teams.
Laboratory and Equipment Management:
According to the notice issued by the school on "Starting the Charging for the Use of Water and Electricity Resources in Research Laboratories in 2022," the institute initiated the charging for the use of water and electricity resources in research laboratories starting from April 17th.
On April 18th, according to the school's work arrangements, midterm inspections of basic experimental projects funded by the 2022 Shenzhen University Student Innovation Development Fund were conducted within the institute.
In view of the recent frequent safety incidents and the profound lessons learned from the fire accident at a hospital in Beijing, starting from April 20th, the institute urged laboratories to conduct special self-inspection and correction work on fire safety and chemical safety, as well as classification and feedback work on laboratory management.
To promote the construction of smart education in the institute's teaching laboratory center, teachers from the center received visitors from the school-enterprise alliance unit, Mule Network Technology (Dalian) Co., Ltd., and Professor Zhang Yong from Dalian University of Technology to exchange ideas on the informatization of experimental teaching in universities.
Student Affairs:
From April 19th to 20th, the Youth League organized students to participate in a visit to BYD.
On April 20th, the school held a meeting to promote the employment of graduates in 2023. The meeting conveyed the spirit of relevant documents on graduate employment from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and our university, and reported on the completion of the employment goals for the 2022 graduates and the progress of the employment work for the 2023 graduates in each college, among which our institute ranked high in employment rate with good progress in employment promotion work.
On April 21st, the institute held a mobilization meeting for all undergraduate graduates to promote their employment after graduation. Lin Bing, Secretary of the College Party Committee, Lin Jilin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, class teacher representatives, and counselor representatives attended the meeting.
On April 22nd, the "2023 Spring Semester Healthy Li Garden Sports Plan - Tug-of-War Competition for the 2020 Level of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering" was held at the front square of the track and field field at the Yuehai Campus.
On April 21st, the institute held a symposium on graduate student affairs. Lin Jilin, Deputy Secretary of the Institute, Sun Yiling, Deputy Dean, academic affairs teachers, and counselor teachers, along with 44 graduate student representatives, attended.
On April 21st, the institute held the twelfth session of the Career Workshop of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, featuring the second phase of the online activity "Experience Sharing of Contracting Innovative Technology Enterprises." Excellent students from the 2020 level of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shi Hong, He Ruifu, and Quan Xin, were invited to share their experiences.
On April 20th, a meeting was organized to advance the work of the Lychee Research Forum.
Party Building and Party Affairs:
On April 20th, Wang Zhizhong, Minister of the Organization Department, Wang Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Liu Debin and Bo Yingying from the Organization Department, visited our institute to conduct grassroots party building research. Lin Bing, Secretary of the Institute Party Committee, Liu Yong, Executive Dean, Lin Jilin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Wang Nan, Vice Dean, and others participated in the research. Both sides exchanged views on party building and related work.
On April 17th, the institute held a joint meeting of the party and government to determine the list of cadres recommended for promotion.
On April 15th, with the approval of the Institute Party Committee, 25 students from the "Qingma Vanguard Team • Dream Building Camp" of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering in the 2023-04 term visited the National Gene Bank for study tours.
On April 21st, the secretary, members, and inspectors of the Institute Discipline Inspection Commission participated in a learning activity organized by the school's discipline inspection office on "Straightening Academic Ethics and Creating a Healthy Academic Environment."
Disciplinary inspection personnel carried out investigations and clean-up work in internet groups.
