Minutes of the Meeting: "Research on the Partial Student Withdrawal Issues of the 2021 Cohort of the Excellence Class in Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering" (Shenzhen University College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering Memo [2023] No. 10)

Undergraduate Teaching Work

1. On April 23rd, the college's teaching secretary attended the university-wide meeting of teaching secretaries organized by the Academic Affairs Office.

2. On April 28th, Mr. Liu Xicun, Principal of Huanggang Experimental High School in Chaonan District, Shantou City, and Mr. Zhuang Huibin, Principal of the High School Department, along with more than 240 senior high school teachers and students, visited the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering. Lin Bingda, the secretary of the college party committee, warmly welcomed the visitors and expressed keen interest in the exchange activities with the high school. Vice Dean Wang Nan provided a comprehensive introduction to Shenzhen University and the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering from various perspectives such as speed, quality, academic disciplines, specialties, employment prospects, and student life. Director Wen Qiao of the Department of Optoelectronic and Information Engineering made an important presentation on the specialty of optoelectronic engineering and the progress of laser technology. Xu Xiuru delivered a scientific report titled "Bringing Machine 'Touch' to Reality" for the visiting students. The event received enthusiastic responses and active participation from the visiting students, and it was highly valued and fully affirmed by the leaders of the School Enrollment Office.

Graduate Work

1. In accordance with the requirements and guidelines for degree work published by the university's Graduate School for the current year, the requirements and defense procedures of the master's thesis defense committee for the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering in 2023 were compiled, and the defense arrangements for the first half of the year were announced.

2. According to the notice from the university's Graduate School on further strengthening the quality construction of theses in the thesis review process, opinions from 27 academic doctoral students, 82 academic master's students, and 119 professional master's students were compiled and summarized. For the theses with four types of situations indicated in the notification, the degree program organized expert groups to carefully review the theses and the opinions of the reviewers, and wrote recommendation reports.

3. The midterm teaching inspection for the second semester of 2022-2023 was successfully completed. The college conducted teaching inspections for graduate students from April 17th to April 28th, including classroom observation, sample paper review, and partial material inspection of teaching and cultivation links. After the inspection, the teaching work for graduate students in this semester was carried out in an orderly manner, and there were no incidents of late arrival or early departure by teaching staff. The teaching and cultivation materials with identified issues in the inspection have been rectified.

4. Prepared the "Approval Form for Off-Campus Mentors for Professional Master's Students on the Maritime Silk Road," and sent it together with the "Management Measures for Joint Cultivation of Master's Students with Dual Mentors at Home and Abroad under the Framework of International Industry-University-Research Collaboration Conference of Shenzhen University on the Maritime Silk Road" issued by the university's Graduate School to the master's student mentors participating in the joint cultivation project, clarifying the requirements for graduate student cultivation and the selection process for off-campus mentors.

5. Compiled promotional materials for graduate student enrollment in 2024 and forwarded the document "Shenzhen University's Implementation Measures for Further Implementing the Responsibilities of Graduate Student Mentors in Moral Education and Cultivation" [Shenzhen University Document No. 48 of 2023].

Postdoctoral Affairs

1. On April 24th, in accordance with the requirements of the school, the rectification work for the postdoctoral section of the college's English website was carried out. New content such as English version of postdoctoral recruitment requirements was added this time.

2. On April 27th, the application work for the Guangdong Provincial Overseas Postdoctoral Talent Support Project for April was completed. A total of three postdoctoral applications were submitted for the Optical Engineering Postdoctoral Mobile Station (excluding micro-nano), including one application for initial funding and two applications for second-time funding.

3. Daily affairs of postdoctoral fellows: This week, a total of six applications for admission to postdoctoral positions and four applications for leaving the postdoctoral positions were approved; two applications for leaving the school and two applications for extension were processed; more than ten applications for thesis proposal, midterm assessment, and final assessment defense were reviewed.

Scientific Research

1. On April 24th, the college hosted the 174th Shenzhen University Lecture. Professor Xuan Yimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at the College of Energy and Power Engineering of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, gave an academic report titled "Green Aviation, Opportune Moment" to our teachers and students. Zhang Jiefeng, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the university, presided over the lecture, and Luo Jingting, Vice Dean of the college, attended and awarded Professor Xuan the Shenzhen University Lecture Expert Certificate on behalf of Shenzhen University.

2. On April 26th, the Shenzhen Intelligent Sensing Industry Association-Shenzhen University Optical Fiber Sensing Technology Exchange Meeting was held at the Institute of Optoelectronics of the college. Representatives and technical leaders from nearly 20 companies attended. At the meeting, Wang Yiping, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Joint Research Center for Optical Fiber Sensing Technology, gave a report on optical fiber sensing technology and had in-depth exchanges and communications with the attending guests on the industry application of research results and cooperation between universities and enterprises. The participating companies also visited and learned from the laboratories of the research center.

3. On April 28th, Elsevier hosted a dinner for highly cited scholars in China, setting up an award presentation ceremony for "Highly Cited Scholars in China" and inviting three professors from the college, Peng Xiang, Wang Yiping, and Zhang Han, who are highly cited scholars, to attend.

Laboratory and Equipment Management

1. On April 25, 2023, the final award ceremony of the inaugural "IPv6 Technology Application Innovation Competition" concluded successfully in Shanghai. The theme of this competition was "Extreme Innovation, Intelligent Connection of Everything," with guidance from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the Ministry of Education. The IPv6 Smart Education project of the Teaching Experiment Center at the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shenzhen University, advanced to the national finals and was awarded an excellence prize.

2. The preliminary planning and layout of the exterior walls of the college's demonstration laboratory were completed, and a design company was invited to conduct on-site surveys. Verification was conducted on 333 fixed assets of furniture in the experimental center.

3. For the laboratories not open for use during the May Day holiday, closed management was implemented (ensuring that water, electricity, and doors and windows are closed). Teachers and students who need to conduct experiments during the holiday must strictly adhere to relevant laboratory operating procedures.

Student Affairs

1. On April 23, the college welcomed about 240 students and teachers from Dongguan Experimental High School. Vice Secretary Lin Jilin and Vice Dean Wang Nan respectively conducted briefing sessions on the school and college profiles, and introduced the majors to the visiting students and teachers in the morning and afternoon.

2. On April 24, the college held the 5th session of the Spring Employment Promotion Campaign and the 13th Career Workshop, titled "Journey of Signing Education Systems," on Tencent Meeting. Graduates of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering from the class of 2020, Yu Zhisheng, Ke Zhen, Wang Yixing, and Xu Yingzhuang, were invited to share their experiences.

3. On April 25, the college held the 2023 internal counselor recommendation interview meeting, with a total of 3 master's students from the class of 2020 participating.

4. On April 27, a delegation from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Automation, led by Professor Chen Nankun, visited the college to exchange views on the operation of the Liren Forum and the college's new media workstation.

5. To further implement employment promotion work, expand the Spring Employment Promotion Campaign, and strengthen the connection between the college and enterprises, a total of 4 college-enterprise liaison visits were conducted this week:

1. On April 24, Vice Dean Sun Yiling and his delegation visited Shenzhen Aike Science Education Technology Co., Ltd., and engaged in in-depth discussions on technology transfer, university-enterprise cooperation, and talent recruitment.

2. On April 25, Secretary of the Party Committee Lin Bing and his delegation visited Fortai Technology (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., to carry out alumni enterprise visits, and conducted in-depth discussions on university-enterprise cooperation and talent cultivation.

3. On April 27, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee Lin Jilin and his delegation visited Shenzhen Zhi'ao Technology Co., Ltd., to carry out alumni enterprise visits and engage in discussions on university-enterprise cooperation and internship base construction.

4. On April 28, Vice President Wang Yongcheng, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee Lin Jilin, and others visited China Electronics Information Industry Group Co., Ltd., to carry out enterprise visits and engage in in-depth discussions on university-enterprise cooperation and talent cultivation.

6. This week, work was carried out on undergraduate student academic warning notifications, interviews, assistance, and communication between home and school for the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

7. On April 28, the college student union organized a joint large-scale cultural and art evening party titled "Dream Journey" as part of the series of activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of Shenzhen University in the Performance Center, in collaboration with sister colleges.

Party Building and Party Affairs

1. On April 25, middle-level leading cadres, party secretaries and party building organizers attended the opening ceremony of the Shenzhen Universitys study class on learning and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the secretarys special party class.

2. On April 28, the college conducted a concentrated study and discussion, and members of the college party committees theoretical study center group participated. Party committee secretary Lin Bing led the study of General Secretary Xi Jinpings important speech at the theme education work conference and the fourth collective study of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, and gave a special party class; Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin made a keynote speech; members conducted exchanges and discussions.

3.On March 28th, the secretary and members of the Discipline Inspection Commission participated in the "Disciplinary Inspectors Speak on Discipline" activity with the theme "Demonstrating 'Strict Governance' to Highlight 'Kindness'—Personal Reflections on Style Construction".
