On May 19th, the college held a joint meeting of the party and government to discuss the selection of distinguished professors.

Undergraduate Teaching Affairs

1. On May 16th, the collection, summarization, and submission of the self-inspection reports for the graduation theses of the 2023 undergraduate students (first batch of defense) of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering were completed.

2. Approval of two students' applications for overseas exchange programs was completed. The course plans for the Department of Physics and the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Technology were submitted. The first batch of graduation lists for Physics and Nuclear majors was compiled. Course substitutions for the first batch of graduating students were completed. Data collection and organization for the application of the Honor Bachelor's degree were completed.

Graduate Affairs

1. This week, efforts were made to mobilize all faculty and students to actively participate in graduate enrollment promotion work. Promotional materials were sent to various universities. The 2021 and 2022 professional doctoral and master's students were organized to participate in the online seminar on cutting-edge industry technology—Seminar on Optoelectronic Chips and High-end Device Technology. Plans for graduate education in various disciplines for the year 2023 were developed at each degree-granting point.

2. A notice was issued to all faculty members soliciting opinions on the revised "Shenzhen University Graduate Thesis Sampling and Result Handling Measures" (draft for comments).

3. The first round of interviews for the "Minority High-level Talents Plan" for doctoral candidates in Electronic Information was completed, with one candidate planned for admission in the field of Optoelectronic Information Engineering. Follow-up on the submission of the "Approval Form for Off-campus Supervisors of Professional Master's Degree Students on the Maritime Silk Road" was conducted.

4. On May 19th, participated in the Shenzhen University International Student School-level Scholarship Review Meeting organized by the International Exchange College.

Postdoctoral Affairs

1. On May 17th, participated in a symposium conducted by the Human Resources Department on optimizing the talent cultivation program for research reserve talents. Discussions and suggestions were mainly focused on the "Lixin Incentive Plan" and the "Liyuan Retention Plan."

2. Routine postdoctoral affairs: Three applications for postdoctoral departure were approved this week. Processing of departure applications for six postdoctoral fellows and one extension application was conducted. Over 20 applications for opening, mid-term, and final assessments were reviewed.

Scientific Research

1. On May 17th, the college's guidelines for scientific research and discipline construction were printed and distributed to all faculty members.

2. On May 19th, to prepare for the acceptance of the Shenzhen Higher Education Institutions' Stable Support Plan projects (approved in 2021), the college held a project acceptance review meeting and organized expert reviewers to review the application materials for the Shenzhen Stable Support projects approved in 2021.

Laboratory and Equipment Management

1. According to the notification from the Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission, preliminary preparations were made to conduct the first-quarter 2023 open sharing service status statistics for large-scale scientific research instruments purchased with financial funds from the city and valued at 500,000 yuan (inclusive) or more per unit (set) in collaboration with the school's laboratory and state-owned asset management department.

2. On May 18th, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education conducted a safety supervision inspection of our school's laboratories. The school organized a reporting symposium, attended by Vice President Xu Chen, Director Chen Yue, and Associate Dean Wu Honglei representing the college, to report on the college's related work.

3. The college's experimental center fully started professional courses this week for this semester, including 14 experimental courses such as Fundamentals of Circuit Analysis, totaling 39 classes.

Student affairs

1. This week, in accordance with the school's requirements for the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus infection, counselors followed up on students who visited the school hospital and were confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus.

2. On May 18th, Lin Jilin, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee, attended the 13th working meeting to welcome the school's anniversary and made a work report on matters such as the establishment of the college alumni association.

3. On May 18th, the college held the selection meeting for outstanding undergraduate graduates of the 2023 session in conference room 1421 of Zhiyuan Building. After the selection, it was proposed to recommend 35 students including Cao He as outstanding undergraduate graduates of the 2023 session.

4. On May 18th, the Student Union of the college and the Secretariat of the Youth League jointly held the third session of the Study Abroad Sharing Lecture in room L2-108 of Zhiyi Building, with more than 60 participants. The guiding teachers of the Youth League and student representatives who successfully pursued postgraduate studies from the 2019 level attended the event.

5. On May 19th, the college organized teachers and students to visit Skyworth Group for enterprise visits and job exploration activities.

6. On May 20th, the "Wuguang Cup" basketball tournament officially kicked off. This basketball tournament was organized by the college's Youth League Committee, with a total of 6 men's basketball teams and 3 women's basketball teams participating in the competition.

Party building and party affairs.

1.On May 16th, the college held a mobilization and deployment meeting for the education and rectification of the discipline inspection and supervision cadres. Members of the Physics and Micro-nano Discipline Inspection Commission attended. During the meeting, Chen Qiuyi, the party building organizer, briefed on the national, Guangdong Province, Shenzhen City, and university-level deployment meetings, outlining the scope, duration, process, objectives, and work arrangements for the education and rectification. Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin mobilized the discipline inspection and supervision cadres to carry out the education and rectification, and presented the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Party Constitution. Members of each discipline inspection commission exchanged and discussed ideas.

2. On May 16 and May 18, Party Secretary Lin Bing attended the meeting of the leadership group for the theme education of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the regular meeting of grassroots party committees (party branches) secretaries in May 2023, and the study and practice activities for the theme education of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

3. On May 17, the leading cadres of the college attended the special tutoring lecture and the fourth concentrated study and discussion activity of the reading class of the theme education of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at Shenzhen University in the No. 1 lecture hall of Huixing Building, Yuehai Campus.

4. On May 19, the theoretical study center group of the college party committee carried out a special concentrated study and discussion on "Studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and important instructions to Guangdong and Shenzhen". As one of the co-organizers, our college organized 50 student party members to participate in the report meeting on "Current International Situation and Security Countermeasures" in the series of special reports on the 40th anniversary of Shenzhen University, which was lectured by Professor Jiang An of the School of Marxism.

5.This week, relevant discipline inspection and supervision cadres conducted individual conversations (participated).

6.Completed the annual review of the college's WeChat public account and participated in the special online training on "Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and Striving to Promote the High-Quality Development of Grassroots Party Building in Universities" organized for party branch secretaries.
