Administration and Personnel

On May 26th, the college held a joint meeting between the party and government to discuss the adjustment of tuition fees for full-time professional master's degree students enrolled after 2024.

Undergraduate Teaching Work

  1. On May 23rd, the college held the preliminary review meeting for the evaluation of the Honors Bachelor's Degree. The meeting approved the applications of 10 graduates from the class of 2023 for the Honors Bachelor's Degree. Confirmation of the first batch of undergraduate graduates (Physics + Teacher Education + Nuclear Engineering) and verification of graduate materials were completed.

  2. On May 23rd, the college held a meeting of the Degree Committee to evaluate degrees and conduct a review of the Honors Bachelor's Degree for the first batch of graduates. The materials of the first batch of graduates were submitted to the university.

  3. Completed the collection of materials for the conclusion and acceptance of undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship projects.

Graduate Work

  1. After formal review by the school and expert evaluation, two projects from our college in the long-term construction of degree programs and the reform of graduate education in 2023 are expected to be approved. One project is the construction of off-campus practice bases for full-time professional master's degree students, and the other is a research project on graduate education reform.

  2. On May 24th, the implementation details for the second round of doctoral admissions for electronic information category doctoral students in 2023, "Minority High-Level Talent Plan" for doctoral students in electronic information, and academic doctoral students in optical engineering and physics were released.

  3. On May 25th, the college held a meeting of the Degree Committee. Through anonymous voting, it was recommended to grant doctoral degrees to 26 doctoral students, recommend master's degrees to 201 master's students, approve the qualifications of three enterprise experts as off-campus mentors for professional master's degrees, and review and approve the training programs for nuclear engineering and instrumentation engineering for the class of 2023.

  4. This week, the work of reviewing and archiving the degree and defense materials of 119 professional master's degree graduate students was completed. Letters of adjustment for the second round of enrollment of doctoral students in optical engineering for 2023 were mailed.

  5. On May 25th, the announcement materials for the application of the "优博计划" (Excellent Doctoral Plan) selected candidates for the 2023 Outstanding Graduate Honor were released.

  6. On May 26th, the college held a meeting on the enrollment of international students for the autumn of 2023. A total of 26 international students applied to study for a doctoral degree in optical engineering at our college. After evaluation by attending experts, the college plans to admit 23 international students.

Postdoctoral Work

  1. On May 25th, the application for the Guangdong Province Overseas Postdoctoral Talent Support Project in May was completed. A total of 8 postdoctoral applications were submitted to the Optical Engineering Postdoctoral Mobile Station (excluding micro-nano), with 7 applying for second-time funding and 1 applying for continued support in Guangdong.

  2. Routine affairs of postdoctoral researchers: This week, 3 applications for admission, 1 application for leaving, 3 applications for leaving the school, and 7 applications for extension were approved for postdoctoral researchers. Additionally, over 20 applications for opening, mid-term, and final assessments were reviewed and approved.

Scientific Research

  1. On May 23rd, Liu Yong, the Executive Dean, and Luo Jingting, the Vice Dean, attended the Shenzhen University New Micro-reactor Construction Work Conference organized by the Guangming District Government.

  2. On May 23rd, the Biomedical Photonics Research Center of our institute invited six scholars from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University in Sweden and the Royal Institute of Technology in the United Kingdom for academic exchanges. The Nuclear Energy and Safety Institute of our institute invited Professor Henryk Anglart, Director of the Reactor Technology Department at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, to give an academic lecture at the institute.

  3. On May 26th, the institute held the 2023 Guangdong Higher Education Research Project Review Meeting organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and recommended projects for our institute.

Laboratory and Equipment Management

  1. On the afternoon of May 25th, Vice Dean Wu Honglei accompanied Deputy Director Shao Cuncai of the Logistics Support Department and four others to the site to discuss the opening of the connecting corridor between the Huiguang Building and the Huizhen Building on the second floor. The Logistics Support Department stated that subsequent decisions would be made based on comprehensive on-site opinions.

  2. This week, the Finance Department plans to conduct spot checks on instruments and equipment across the entire campus, with six instruments and equipment from our institute selected for inspection. The inspection will confirm whether the equipment is domestically produced and whether there are equipment origin nameplates.

  3. Planning for the construction of the institute's science popularization base to prepare for future work; organizing waste recycling in two campuses this week; arranging laboratory safety inspections based on thunderstorm warnings.

Student Affairs

  1. On May 20th, the Graduate Student Union of the institute, together with the Volunteer Association, the Youth League Committee of the School of Psychology, and the Graduate Student Union and Student Union of the School of Humanities, held a "Give Light to Old Items, Shine for Love" old item exchange market activity in the Wenshan Lake Student Community of Yuehai Campus.

  2. On the morning of May 25th, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Lin Jilin attended the 14th working meeting of the 40th anniversary celebration of the school.

  3. On the evening of May 25th, the Graduate Affairs Office organized a meeting of counselors and office assistants; organized the "6th Liren Forum" online preparatory meeting for the Graduate Student Union.

  4. On the morning of May 26th, the institute held a meeting on the evaluation of outstanding graduate students. Vice Dean Sun Yiling, Deputy Secretary Lin Jilin, and relevant evaluation teachers attended the meeting.

  5. This week, the Student Affairs Office and the Graduate Affairs Office released information on employment recruitment for the graduating class of 2023, reviewed students' employment materials, compiled statistics on employment destinations, updated records of unemployed graduates, strengthened inspection and support work; followed up on 9 newly confirmed COVID-19 positive students from Ben, the research institute; carried out crisis event reporting for this month, notified the collection of graduation student party membership, household registration transfer, and academic gown collection matters; launched the announcement and registration notice for the 8th National College Students' Extracurricular "Nuclear + X" Creative Competition, the 9th National University Physics Experiment Competition, and the 24th South China University Biophysics Experimental Design Competition; urged students to participate in the Youth University Learning Program. The Graduate Affairs Office also issued a notice for the second call for papers for the "Liren Forum."

  6. This week, guidance and coordination for the creation of campus anti-fraud education videos were carried out; a total of 8 articles were published on the public account, and 1 video was posted on the video platform.

Party Building and Party Affairs

1.On May 24, middle-level leaders participated in the fifth concentrated study and discussion activity of the Shenzhen Universitys reading class on the theme of learning and implementing Xi Jinpings new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

2. On the afternoon of May 25, the theoretical study center group of the college party committee carried out a special concentrated study and discussion on Learning General Secretary Xi Jinpings important speeches and important instructions on education, science and technology, and talents and the college reading class.

3.On March 25th, the theoretical study center group of the college party committee conducted a thematic study and discussion on "Continuing to Carry Forward the Spirit of the Special Economic Zone and Courageously Leading the Reform and Opening-up." The focus was on examining the "six whethers" to identify existing problems and analyze the reasons behind them.

4. On May 27, the Party Committee of the College and the Trade Union carried out an outing activity with the theme of Watching the Fortress, Never Forgetting the Hard Times, and Appreciating the Bridge to Continue the Happy Movement. In the morning, everyone set off from the Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Terminal, overlooking the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, personally experiencing the great project of the motherland, and enhancing national self-confidence and pride; in the afternoon, the teacher party members went to Chiwan to watch the Left Fortress and the bronze statue of Lin Zexu, and listened to the theme speech of the Party Committee of the College Remembering the Bitterness and Thinking of the Sweetness, not forgetting the original intention and keeping the mission in mind. In the study and implementation of the theme education of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we should more consciously and deeply understand the decisive significance of two establishments, enhance the four consciousnesses, strengthen the four confidences, and achieve two maintenances.
