Administrative Affairs

  1. Issued the document "Evaluation Criteria for Innovative Achievements in Graduate Degree Application of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shenzhen University" (Document No. 2 of 2023).

Undergraduate Teaching Work

  1. On June 1st, the Academic Affairs Office satisfactorily completed the mid-term inspection for the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

  2. On June 2nd, completed the registration and submission of personnel for the College English Test (CET) for the first half of 2023, assisting the School Registration Office in coordinating related examination affairs for returning students.

  3. Completed the evaluation and final acceptance of applications for innovation and entrepreneurship projects by undergraduate students for the year 2023 this week.

Graduate Affairs

  1. Issued a notice to all faculty members soliciting opinions on the draft revision of the "Regulations for Identification and Handling of Graduate Teaching Accidents at Shenzhen University," soliciting further opinions and suggestions from various graduate training units, degree-granting units, teachers (including graduate supervisors), teaching assistants, teaching management personnel, and teaching support staff across the university.

  2. Submitted the list of graduating graduate students for the first half of 2023, submitted materials for the thesis defense of professional master's students for the first half of 2023, and completed the review of applications for deferral of graduation for professional master's and academic doctoral students.

  3. Added evaluation criteria for innovative achievements in applying for degrees by Master's students in the field of Energy and Power (Nuclear Engineering) approved by the College's Degree Evaluation Committee to the document "Evaluation Criteria for Innovative Achievements in Graduate Degree Application of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shenzhen University" (Document No. 12 of 2021).

  4. According to the notification from the Graduate School regarding the recommendation of the third batch of "Huang Danian-style Teacher Teams in National Universities" and the application situation, the college recommended the submission of the Shenzhen University 2D Optoelectronics Team to the Graduate School on May 31st.

  5. Conducted the second round of registration and examination material review for doctoral admissions in Optical Engineering, Physics, and Electronic Information majors.

  6. Issued subsidies to international doctoral students according to the "Management Measures for the Enrollment of Foreign Students Pursuing Doctoral Degrees at Shenzhen University (Trial)."

Postdoctoral Affairs

This week, approved the admission of 2 postdoctoral researchers, the departure of 4 postdoctoral researchers, handled the departure requests of 3 postdoctoral researchers, and reviewed more than 30 applications for proposal, midterm, and final assessment defenses.

Scientific Research

  1. On May 30th, the "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Workers in Shenzhen 2023" award ceremony, jointly organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Committee, and hosted by Shenzhen Business Daily/Readership and Shenzhen Shenshang Media Co., Ltd., was held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. During the event, the list of 10 awardees and their advanced deeds were announced, and Professor Zhang Han from our college was one of the 10 awardees.

  2. On May 31st, Lin Han, Director of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Management Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and his team of 5 visited the China Institute of Nuclear Energy and Safety at Shenzhen University for research discussions. Liu Yong, the dean of the institute, Luo Jingtang, the executive dean, Wu Zongze, the dean of the School of Mechanical and Control Engineering, Li Yongliang, the associate dean of the School of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, and some leaders and teachers from the China Institute of Nuclear Energy and Safety attended the discussion.

  3. Recently, according to the latest "Global Best Universities for Optics" ranking released by the US News & World Report (US News), Shenzhen University ranked sixth globally and first domestically in optics. Shenzhen University demonstrated outstanding performance in total citations, international collaboration in optics, and highly cited papers in optics, indicating significant achievements in discipline construction and a further increase in international academic productivity and influence.

Laboratory and Equipment Management

  1. On June 1st, the Teaching Experiment Center of the College, along with the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, held a science popularization visit activity for Children's Day. A total of 43 external primary school students and parents were received, including 23 primary school students.

  2. In coordination with the Laboratory and State-owned Assets Management Department to implement the statistics on the opening and sharing of large-scale scientific research instruments and equipment in the first quarter of 2023 (January-March) related to Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission's regulations on instruments worth 500,000 yuan or more, data was collected, including basic information on the instruments, effective working hours, and shared service hours. This assessment covered 158 pieces of equipment, with 87 responsible personnel for the relevant instruments, totaling assets worth 173,578,000 yuan.

  3. In accordance with the "Management Measures for Research Fund Projects on Laboratory and Equipment Management at Shenzhen University", the conclusion work for the Laboratory and Equipment Management Research Fund for the year 2022 and the postponed projects from previous years were carried out. Calls were made for basic experimental projects for the Shenzhen University Student Innovation Development Fund for the year 2023, targeting all faculty members and laboratory technicians.

  4. On June 2nd, Vice Director Cao Jianming of the Laboratory and State-owned Assets Management Department, along with his team, visited our college to investigate the construction of provincial demonstration centers and to supervise the charging of laboratory resources. Vice Dean Wu Honglei received Director Cao and his team and held discussions on relevant follow-up work.

Student Affairs

  1. On May 29th, the Counseling Center for Psychological Health and Education held a collective discussion for counselors from the three schools in the meeting room of the School of Arts. The discussion covered topics such as the annual survey in April, face-to-face interviews, student counseling, crisis management, as well as difficult case discussions and sharing. The Student Affairs Department hosted a themed training session titled "From Teacher to Manager: Let's Learn from Drucker".

  2. On May 29th, the closing ceremony of the "Wuguang Cup" basketball tournament for 2023 was held on the rooftop of the South Campus Sports Stadium. Vice Secretary of the Party Committee Lin Jilin and other teachers attended the event and awarded prizes to the representatives of the winning teams.

  3. On May 30th, a visit to ZTE Corporation was organized to engage in discussions on cooperation between the university and enterprises, talent cultivation, and other related topics.

  4. On May 31st, the school held the 15th working meeting for the 40th anniversary celebration, with Vice Secretary Lin Jilin representing the college. The college plans to organize activities related to "Lychee Culture" involving faculty, students, and alumni.

  5. From June 1st to 2nd, undergraduate counselors visited the dormitories of graduating classes, while the Graduate Student Union participated in online discussions for the preparation of the seventh "Liren Forum", online themed class meetings for graduate students, and doctoral party branch meetings.

  6. This week, efforts were made to ensure that students completed the "Youth University Learning" program, conducted safety and civility inspections in the community, updated the ledger for the whereabouts of graduates who have not yet found employment, advanced employment initiatives, collected dues from graduating classes, and published articles on the official WeChat account.

Party Building and Party Affairs

1. On May 27, 25 students of the 2023-04 Youth Pioneer Group Dream Building Camp of the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, led by the Secretary of the Youth League Committee Jiang Zhuo and the person in charge Yan Xudong, conducted the first concentrated study since the opening of the camp. In the first part, the Secretary of the Youth League Committee Jiang Zhuo introduced the series of books on Xi Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and focused on leading the students to study part of the book Special Topic Excerpts of Xi Jinpings Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The second part was for the students to watch the party class. The content of the party class watched this time was Xi Jinpings thoughts on diplomacy.

2.On May 31st, 83 files of the graduating class of 2023's party members were handed over to the Organization Department for reexamination.

3. On May 31, the Party Committee of the College held a special organizational life meeting for the 2023 graduating party members in the form of on-site centralized + Tencent video conference. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College Lin Jilin, Party Secretary, Organizer and undergraduate, Master and Doctoral graduating party members attended the meeting, totaling 137 people. Party Secretary Yang Yinmei educated and trained party members on the transfer of organizational relations of graduating party members. In addition, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Lin Jilin gave party members a party class entitled "Be a qualified party member and shoulder the historical mission--Study the report of the 20th National Congress of the Party, the <Party Constitution> and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech during his inspection of Guangdong."

4. On June 2, the Theoretical Study Center Group of the Party Committee of the College carried out a special concentrated study and discussion on "Study and implement Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, temper party spirit, and strengthen responsibility and responsibility". Comrade Wu Honglei led the study of "Selected Readings of Xi Jinping's Works on Adhering to the Correct Political Direction of the Party's News and Public Opinion Work", Comrade Wang Nan and Comrade Sun Yiling made keynote speeches, and other members of the meeting exchanged and discussed.

5. On June 2, a Party Committee meeting was held. The first topic was to study General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at the fourth collective study of the 20th Central Political Bureau.The meeting also studied General Secretary Xi Jinping's emphasis on accelerating the construction of an education power during the fifth collective study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to provide strong support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The meeting exchanged views on the investigation and research work of the theme education and arranged rectification work; four probationary party members were converted to full members and one probationary party member was accepted; and the rules for identifying volunteers were discussed and approved.

6.From May 31st to June 2nd, the materials for the college's themed education preparation for inspection were completed, with approximately 200 instances of gathering information on party members who should be transferred but haven't, as well as those who have relocated.
