Administrative Personnel

On June 7th, the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering held a cadre work meeting in the Zhiyuan Building conference room. Vice President Li Yonghua, Minister of Student Affairs Chen Yunfei, the college leadership team, and various department heads attended the meeting.

During the meeting, appointment and dismissal documents were read out. According to the arrangement of the school's mid-level deputy positions, Wu Honglei, Luo Jingtang, Liu Liwei, and Wen Qiao were appointed as vice deans of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, while Long Xiaoli was appointed as deputy secretary.

Li Yonghua emphasized that the school's party committee attaches great importance to the development and leadership team construction of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering. He praised the party and government leadership team of the college for their emphasis on politics, unity, and practical work. He noted that they have united to seek development, made significant achievements in platform construction, scientific research, and talent cultivation, and hoped that all staff in the college would maintain enthusiasm, muster up their efforts, and support the team's work with practical actions.

Undergraduate Teaching Work:

1. On June 9th, the college successfully hosted the 5th session of the "Guidance Lecture Series": "STEM Education and Talent Cultivation in the New Era: Research on Knowledge Integration and Scientific Thinking." Professor Bao Lei from the Department of Physics and the College of Education at Ohio State University, and Professor Zhou Shaona from South China Normal University were jointly invited to deliver the lecture. More than 200 students attended the lecture.

2. On June 9th, over 400 high school students from Shenzhen School Affiliated to Northeast Normal University visited our school. Vice Director Lei Lei gave a presentation on the basic situation of the College of Optics and Photonics to the students and teachers from the high school. After the meeting, students from Class Five and Six of Grade Two visited our Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Devices and Systems, Optoelectronic Center and Micro-Nano Optoelectronics Laboratory, Key Laboratory of Advanced Thin Films and Applications, and Laboratory of Nuclear Science and Technology. The visiting students responded enthusiastically.

3. On June 10th, Vice Dean Wen Qiao went to Shantou to conduct a recruitment promotion event for undergraduate admissions to Shenzhen University in 2023. The event attracted more than 330 registered participants, and both prospective students and their parents showed great enthusiasm for applying to Shenzhen University, resulting in a strong response at the venue.

Graduate Work:

1. This week, revisions and systematic reporting for the training programs of 13 graduate students in the 2023 cohort were completed. This includes 4 doctoral training programs, 2 academic master's training programs, and 7 professional master's training programs.

2. From June 7th to 8th, the second round of written tests and interviews for doctoral admissions in Optical Engineering and Physics for the year 2023 were conducted. It is planned to admit 5 students in Optical Engineering and 2 students in Physics.

3. From June 8th to 9th, written tests and interviews were conducted for the doctoral programs in Electronic Information and the "Minority High-level Backbone Talent Program" in the field of Electronic Information. It is planned to admit 4 students in the field of Optoelectronic Information Engineering and 1 student in the minority-specific program.

4. This week, the mid-term inspection of master's theses for the 2021 cohort of professional master's students was conducted.

5. Three projects from our college were approved for the 2023 Guangdong Provincial Graduate Education Innovation Program: Professor Qu Junle's "Case Library Construction of Optical Microscopy and Electronic Imaging (Bilingual Teaching)" for the Optical Information Engineering program, Professor Wu Honglei's "Demonstration Course Construction of Advanced Thin Film Technology and Application," and Professor Sun Yiling's "Research on the 'Industry-Education Integration' Training Mode for Professional Graduate Students in Pilot Demonstration Areas—Taking Electronic Information as an Example" for educational reform.

Postdoctoral Work:

1. On June 5th, 2023, the postdoctoral enrollment and registration work for June started. A total of 5 postdoctoral researchers completed their registration this week, with one of them being from our institute.

2. Postdoctoral Affairs:

• This week, a total of 4 applications for postdoctoral entry were approved, along with 2 applications for exit. Additionally, 4 applications for postdoctoral departure and 6 applications for extension were processed. Over 20 applications for opening, mid-term, and final assessment defense were reviewed.

Scientific Research:

1. On June 7th, the university issued a document establishing the Shenzhen University Quantum Precision Measurement Research Institute (a university-level non-independent research institution), which is under the management of our institute. Professor Li Zhaohong serves as the director.

2. On June 8th, the university announced the proposed projects for the 2023 Guangdong Provincial Education Department's research projects for higher education institutions (natural science category). Our institute's 1 key special project and 1 young innovative talent project were recommended for approval by the university.

Laboratory and Equipment Management:

1. On June 7th, laboratory staff from our institute received visitors from the Nanshan District Street Office for a safety inspection of some laboratories. Following the inspection results, the institute urged the respective laboratories to complete the necessary rectifications on time.

2. Following the principle of uninterrupted procurement work, on June 8th, the institute organized the statistical work for procurement projects with a budget of over 200,000 RMB to ensure the timely and orderly execution of various procurement projects.

3. On June 9th, in support of the school's enrollment publicity work, the institute hosted a visit by 100 high school students to the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Optoelectronics.

4. On June 10th, Vice Director Xu Guiwen of the Institute's Teaching Experiment Center attended the "2023 Guangdong Province Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Digitalization Upgrade Seminar" jointly initiated by South China University of Technology and Beijing Zhongke Haodian Technology Co., Ltd. Representatives from various universities in Guangdong Province, including South China Normal University, Guangdong University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen Campus, Southern University of Science and Technology, and the Guangzhou Campus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, attended the seminar. They discussed the innovative application of digital technology in experimental teaching.

5. Following the school's laboratory classification and grading system, the institute completed the classification and grading work for its laboratories and coordinated with the university.

Student Affairs:

1. On June 5th, the institute held a counselor work meeting. Party Secretary Lin Bing attended the meeting and provided guidance. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Party Secretary Lin Jilin, and all specialized counselors attended.

2. On June 7th, the school held the 16th working meeting for the 40th anniversary celebration. Counselor Li Kaixin represented the institute at the meeting and reported on 8 alumni-related activities for the anniversary celebration.

3. On June 8th, the institute held a counselor work meeting, where Party Secretary Lin Bing announced the appointment of the new Deputy Party Secretary, Comrade Long Xiaoli. Lin Jilin introduced Long Xiaoli to the counselor's duties and the basic situation of student work in the institute. All specialized counselors attended the meeting.

4. On June 9th, staff from the Guangming District Development and Reform Bureau visited for inspection, and one 2023 master's graduate was recommended to the bureau.

5. This week, counselors for undergraduate and graduate students completed updates for a total of 212 key care student support logs. The Student Affairs Office and Graduate Affairs Office prepared for the graduation ceremony and graduation photoshoot, collected materials for the graduation ceremony promotional video, and published a total of 6 articles on the official WeChat account.

Party Building and Party Affairs:

1.On June 8th, the institute's Party Committee conducted pragmatic research work, organizing thematic education student forums and teacher forums, with a total of 25 teachers and students participating, truly listening to opinions, accepting suggestions, addressing problems, and promoting work.

2. On June 9, the theoretical study group of the Party Committee of the College carried out a concentrated study and discussion on the topic of Studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as a guide to comprehensively improve the level of school management". Comrade Liu Yong led the study of Selected Special Excerpts on the Worldview and Methodology of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Comrade Wu Honglei and Comrade Luo Jingting made keynote speeches, and other members at the meeting exchanged views and discussed.
