To thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speeches on the work of young cadres, and in accordance with the higher-level Party committee's directives on strengthening the education, management, and supervision of young cadres, the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering invited Professor Fu Heming, a leading scholar at Shenzhen University and the head of the Guangdong Provincial Model Teachers' Studio for Ideological and Political Courses, to deliver a special lecture on "Interpreting the Spirit of the 20th Central Committee’s Third Plenary Session" on November 5, 2024. The lecture was hosted by Lin Bing, the Party Secretary of the College.
Professor Fu Heming began by reviewing the key decisions of previous third plenary sessions since the reform and opening-up, starting from the historic decision at the 11th Central Committee’s Third Plenary Session to shift the focus of the Party and the country to economic development and initiate reform and opening-up. He elaborated on the significance of the 20th Central Committee’s Third Plenary Session, highlighting the adoption of the Decision on Further Deepening Comprehensive Reform and Advancing Chinese-Style Modernization by the Central Committee. The decision outlined the major significance and overall requirements for advancing comprehensive reforms and Chinese-style modernization, set the goal of achieving socialist modernization by 2035, and focused on major reform measures for the next five years.
Drawing from over 300 reform initiatives outlined in the decision and Shenzhen's 40-plus years of reform experience, Professor Fu provided a clear blueprint of the comprehensive reform efforts and an inspiring vision of the broad prospects of Chinese-style modernization.
The lecture received widespread acclaim from nearly 100 young cadres and faculty members in attendance. Lin Bing, the Party Secretary, highly praised Professor Fu’s in-depth analysis of the spirit of the 20th Central Committee’s Third Plenary Session. He encouraged young cadres of the College to "strive to be relentless pioneers who are courageous and take on responsibilities." At the conclusion of the lecture, Long Xiaoli, the College’s Deputy Party Secretary, presented Professor Fu with a commemorative emblem of the College as a token of appreciation.
