In mid-October, the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM) and the Chinese Optical Engineering Society (COES) announced the list of proposed awardees for the 10th CSTAM Science and Technology Awards and the 10th COES Science and Technology Awards. The research teams led by Academician Yu Qifeng and Professor Qu Junyue from our institute were both included in the award list. Academician Yu’s team was awarded the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in the 10th CSTAM Science and Technology Awards for their research on “The Theory and Method of Camera Chain Transfer Measurement for Large-Scale Structural Deformation”. Professor Qu’s team received the First Prize in the Natural Science Category of the 10th COES Science and Technology Awards for their work on “Optical Ultra-Resolution Live Imaging Principles and Methods for Large Depth”.

The CSTAM Science and Technology Award is an important part of the award system of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, which recognizes outstanding contributions to basic research, technological innovation, dissemination of scientific knowledge, and mechanical education, among others. CSTAM has the qualification to nominate for the National Science and Technology Awards.

The COES Science and Technology Award recognizes individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions in optical engineering research, technological innovation and development, promotion and application of scientific achievements, and commercialization. The awarded achievements must demonstrate key technological indicators at the leading domestic level, with notable innovations in concepts, performance improvements, or technological breakthroughs, and practical application examples.

Our college has consistently pursued the goal of building “double first-class” disciplines and places great emphasis on the development of top-tier teams and the achievement of outstanding results. These awards are a testament to the significant progress our institute has made in scientific research and discipline development in recent years. Going forward, the institute will continue to support the growth and strengthening of our research teams, striving for more major scientific breakthroughs.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the research teams for their well-deserved awards!
