On October 22, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) jointly released the list of the “National Typical Projects for the ‘5G+ Smart Education’ Application Pilot” and the list of passed projects. Among more than 1,200 projects across the country, the “Shenzhen University National-Level Semiconductor Materials Virtual Simulation Experimental Interactive Teaching Demonstration Project Based on 5G+ Computing Power Network,” led by Professor Wu Honglei from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, successfully passed the evaluation and was recognized as one of the typical national “5G+ Smart Education” application pilot projects. It is one of the 44 typical projects nationwide, and the only selected project from Shenzhen and one of only two projects selected from Guangdong Province. This achievement highlights the innovative outcomes and demonstration role of Shenzhen University in the field of 5G smart education.
To accelerate the deep integration of new-generation information and communication technologies with education and teaching, the MIIT and MOE jointly launched the “5G+ Smart Education” application pilot project in November 2021. After two years, only 93 out of the 109 initial pilot projects passed the evaluation, and 44 projects were selected as national examples. The successful inclusion of our project demonstrates the university’s ongoing exploration and outstanding innovation in the reform of educational informatization and intelligentization. Throughout the project’s execution, it received strong support from Shenzhen University’s leadership, the Academic Affairs Office, the Department of State-Owned Assets and Laboratory Management, the Information Center, and other partner departments, ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.
This recognition as a typical project for the “5G+ Smart Education” application pilot is a high-level acknowledgment of Shenzhen University’s efforts in promoting experimental teaching informatization and intelligentization through collaborative innovation between schools and enterprises. It also inspires us to continue exploring new paths for the deep integration of education and cutting-edge technologies. Looking forward to the future, we are motivated to deepen the innovative application of artificial intelligence and 5G technologies in experimental teaching, actively build new paradigms for smart education, and contribute the wisdom and strength of Shenzhen University to the modernization of education, working together to create a bright future for smart education.
