To further promote the integration of industry, academia, and research between the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering and Tencent, on the afternoon of November 18, 2024, Liu Liwei, Executive Vice Dean of the School, along with Zhang Min, Li Xiongjun, Liu Xin, and Yang Tuo, visited Tencent’s Binhai Building for an exchange. The event was attended by Yan Pengfei, General Manager of Tencent Cloud Education, Wang Cairong, Head of School-Enterprise Cooperation for Tencent Cloud Education, Fan Bozhao, Senior Architect of Tencent Cloud AI, Pang Hongqi, Head of Ecosystem Cooperation at Tencent Quantum Lab, and Bu Kunliang and Shao Ming, researchers at Tencent Quantum Lab.
General Manager Yan Pengfei warmly welcomed the delegation from the School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering. He expressed that Tencent has a deep relationship with Shenzhen University and hoped to further develop comprehensive industry-university-research cooperation in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, based on their previous good cooperation. Wang Cairong, Head of School-Enterprise Cooperation, detailed Tencent’s approach to school-enterprise cooperation in areas such as professional training, innovative applications, certification, and industry-university-research services. Fan Bozhao, Senior Architect of Tencent Cloud AI, gave an in-depth introduction to the resources, faculty development, and application cases in artificial intelligence and big data technology. Pang Hongqi, Head of Ecosystem Cooperation at Tencent Quantum Lab, shared the progress of their previous cooperation with the School and proposed future plans for collaboration.
Executive Vice Dean Liu Liwei thanked Tencent for their warm reception. She introduced the School’s basic situation and hoped that Tencent would provide more support in areas such as AI course development, academic competitions, research cooperation, and innovative talent cultivation. She also expressed the hope that both parties would communicate frequently and work together to create a model of industry-academia cooperation with distinctive features in optoelectronics and artificial intelligence. Following the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on implementing cooperation content and signing cooperation agreements.
After the meeting, the delegation toured Tencent’s Binhai headquarters and the intelligent comprehensive exhibition hall, gaining insights into Tencent’s development history, business structure, industrial layout, and the latest technological achievements. This exchange deepened mutual understanding, expanded cooperation areas, and laid the foundation for further leveraging their respective advantages to enhance the development of high-quality innovative talent and AI technology.
