Successful Convening of the Class Teacher Working Conference of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering

To further enhance the effectiveness and pertinence of class teacher work and promote the all-round development of students, the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering held a class teacher working conference in Conference Room 1101 of Zhiyuan Building on March 13. Lin Bing, Secretary of the College Party Committee, Wen Qiao, Vice Dean, Long Xiaoli, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, all undergraduate class teachers, teaching affairs teachers, and all undergraduate counselors attended the meeting.

First, Long Xiaoli conveyed the university’s new requirements for class teacher work. Combined with the Shenzhen University Undergraduate Class Teacher Work Management Measures(Revised), she systematically interpreted the role positioning and job responsibilities of class teachers and arranged the work for class teachers in the new semester. She emphasized that student work currently faces many challenges, with safety issues being of utmost importance. It is necessary to maintain a high level of vigilance and make continuous efforts in this regard. She hoped that class teachers would further strengthen close cooperation with counselors and teaching affairs teachers to form a good mechanism for collaborative education in student ideological guidance, academic style construction, mental health, and employment guidance, so as to better guide students’ growth and talent development.

Wen Qiao focused on teaching management, student status, academic qualifications, and degree management. He pointed out that as important guides for students’ academic studies, class teachers should help students deepen their understanding of their majors and continuously stimulate their learning interests and motivation. They should attach importance to credit management, pay close attention to students’ credit acquisition, and provide timely guidance and assistance. They should also encourage students to actively participate in relevant subject competitions to enhance their professional practical abilities and innovative spirit.

Teacher Yang Tuo, as a representative of class teachers, shared his practices and insights in class management and innovative education. He attaches great importance to students’ ideal and belief education, guiding them to study Selected Works of Mao Zedong to help them face the challenges in study and life with a broader vision and deeper thinking. In academic guidance, he emphasizes the importance of making university plans and focuses on cultivating students’ subjective initiative. At the same time, he actively helps students apply for innovative project funding, guides them to participate in various competitions, and strives to create a class atmosphere of courage to innovate and unity and cooperation.

Finally, Lin Bing delivered a concluding speech. He emphasized that class teachers shoulder the important responsibilities of establishing morality and cultivating people, and teaching and educating students. They are closely connected with students and have a far-reaching influence. Class teachers should take the initiative to get close to students, go deep into students, and care for students to provide strong support for their growth. In educational practice, class teachers need to uphold the principle of teaching without discrimination while paying attention to teaching students in accordance with their aptitudes, giving personalized guidance and help according to students’ characteristics and needs. He put forward requirements and expectations to all class teachers: to carry out their work in a down-to-earth and meticulous manner with a high sense of responsibility and mission, and contribute to cultivating high-quality talents and helping the university achieve the goal of“double first-class”.

The successful convening of this class teacher conference has pointed out the direction for the college’s student work in the next stage and consolidated consensus. It is believed that with the high attention of the college leaders and the joint efforts of all class teachers, the college’s student cultivation and management work will reach a new level.
