AI Summer Exchange Program Organized by the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering and the Macau University of Science and Technology Concludes Successfully

To enhance the international experience of undergraduate students, the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shenzhen University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Macau University of Science and Technology, organized an AI Summer Exchange Program. The program was strongly supported by the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation at Shenzhen University. A total of 25 students from the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering participated in a week-long research and learning activity at Macau University of Science and Technology. The activities included academic lectures, field visits, and cultural exchanges, aimed at deepening students’ understanding of artificial intelligence and related fields, and further promoting academic cooperation between Shenzhen and Macau universities.

During the opening ceremony, representatives from Macau University of Science and Technology delivered speeches and introduced the event schedule, officially marking the start of the exchange program. Students later visited the universitys History Museum and the National Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Research, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the academic structure, research strengths, and graduate training systems at Macau University of Science and Technology, providing valuable reference for their future academic pursuits.

In the academic exchange session, several experts and professors delivered high-level lectures. On August 5th, Ye Ben gave a lecture on “Human-Computer Interaction Technology, explaining the applications of human-computer interaction in both daily life and scientific research through real-world examples, greatly stimulating the students interest. On the afternoon of August 6th, Associate Professor Li Dagang presented a lecture on “Data Mining, systematically explaining data preprocessing, pattern recognition, and knowledge discovery, with a focus on how to extract valuable information from vast amounts of data. Through case studies, students gained a clearer understanding of the basic methods of data mining and its role in artificial intelligence, further expanding their research perspectives. On the morning of August 7th, Dr. Zou Bai introduced the development of Macau’s society, economy, and education, providing students with a more comprehensive and multidimensional understanding of Macau. In the afternoon, Professor Zeng Xiangcai gave a lecture on “Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence, covering the core principles, technical paths, and typical applications of AI, and used case studies to help students better understand the current state and future trends of AI. On August 8th, Professor Hu Xiuyong shared his career development and leadership experience, before awarding certificates to the students, marking the successful conclusion of the exchange program.

In addition to academic discussions, the program also emphasized cultural experiences. Students visited the Macau Communications Museum to trace the history of technology and societal development. During their free time, they experienced the unique historical heritage and multicultural atmosphere of Macau.

This AI Summer Exchange Program, organized by the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, Shenzhen University, in collaboration with Macau University of Science and Technology, not only deepened the academic exchange between students from both universities in the field of artificial intelligence, but also enriched the students’ cultural experiences and career planning. Participants expressed that the program expanded their academic horizons, enhanced their interest in research, and provided valuable inspiration for their future studies and development.

The successful implementation of this exchange activity has further strengthened the cooperation between Shenzhen University and Macau University of Science and Technology, and played an active role in promoting international exchange programs for undergraduate students, cultivating innovative talents with an international perspective, and exploring diverse industry-academia-research cooperation models.
