On October 19, the 33rd International Conference on High-Speed Imaging and Photonics (ICHSIP-33) concluded successfully. The conference invited eight distinguished scholars, including Professor Gérard Mourou, winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics, to give keynote speeches. Six academicians, including Zhuang Songlin, Jin Yaqiu, Deng Jianjun, Li Ruxin, Zhang Xuejun, and Li Hanqing, attended the opening ceremony. As the host and co-organizer of the event, Shenzhen University provided strong support for the conference. Vice President of Shenzhen University, Chao Naipeng, and Executive Vice Dean of the College of Physics and Optical Engineering, Liu Liwei, attended the conference. Vice President Chao delivered an opening speech, congratulating the conference’s successful organization and introducing Shenzhen as a city of technology and dreams, as well as the achievements of Shenzhen University’s academic development. He also extended a warm welcome to international guests and expressed the university’s eagerness to host further academic exchanges.The successful hosting of this conference not only provided a platform for global experts in high-speed imaging and photonics to engage in intellectual exchange and technical cooperation but also enhanced the international reputation and influence of Shenzhen University in related academic fields.

The event was co-hosted by the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shenzhen University, running from October 15 to 19. The conference series, which began in 1952, has been held alternately across five continents. This conference continues the rich legacy of the series, which has spanned over 70 years, and marks the return of the prestigious event to China after the 18th (1988) and 27th (2006) editions, underscoring China’s growing academic influence and cohesion in this field. Over 350 representatives attended the conference from 12 countries, including China, Japan, Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany, France, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan. Additionally, 25 exhibitors from five countries — China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States—participated in the exhibition and exchange sessions. During the event, various activities were carried out smoothly, fostering a strong academic atmosphere and offering abundant opportunities for technical exchange and collaboration, receiving widespread praise from all participants.

At the conference banquet, international delegates, including Academician Li Hanqing, Vice President Chao Naipeng, Conference Chair Professor Li Jingzhen, Professor Yao Baoli, and other guests, gathered for a friendly photo, capturing a warm moment of international academic exchange.
