To further strengthen its off-campus internship bases, align talent development more closely with industry standards, and enhance the management of internships, the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at Shenzhen University conducted visits, research, university–enterprise discussions, and check-ins with interns on July 27, 2026. The delegation was led by Associate Dean Wen Qiao and included Zheng Zhuanghao, Chair of the Department of Physics; Ye Fan, Deputy Chair of the Department of Physics; internship supervisors Wu Muquan and Guo Zongxiao; and academic affairs staff. The delegation visited Shenzhen Hengyunchang Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Shiruitai Technology Co., Ltd.

The delegation’s first stop was Shenzhen Hengyunchang Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd. The university and the company held a focused discussion on technological developments in the industry, talent development, and collaborative innovation in industry, academia, and research. They also held an unveiling ceremony for an off-campus internship base, further strengthening the College’s practical education platform and advancing substantive university–enterprise collaboration.

Associate Dean Wen Qiao introduced the University and the College, outlining their educational missions, distinctive academic programs, faculty development, and approaches to talent development. Company experts provided an overview of the company’s history, industry talent needs, and workforce development plans, and identified current challenges in industrial technology. The two sides exchanged ideas on joint talent development, focusing in particular on ways to incorporate real-world engineering challenges from industry into classroom teaching, internships, and practical training. By drawing on their complementary strengths and aligning talent development with industry needs, they aim to make the process more targeted and effective. The discussion also helped set a clear direction for sustained, in-depth collaboration.

At the conclusion of the discussion, Associate Dean Wen Qiao and Le Weiping, Chairman of the company, jointly unveiled the plaque for the internship base.

The delegation then visited Shenzhen Shiruitai Technology Co., Ltd. to learn about the development of its internship base, check in with students currently undertaking internships, and gain a first-hand understanding of their experience.

During the visit, College leaders and faculty members spoke individually with the interns. College students are undertaking internships in a range of departments and roles, including production, quality inspection, research and development, and human resources. The delegation learned about their work, how they were adapting to their roles, and the support available to them in their daily lives. They listened carefully to the students’ reflections and concerns, and encouraged them to follow the company’s rules and safety procedures, build practical experience, and strengthen their professional skills.

After meeting with the students, the College held a discussion with Shiruitai Technology. The two sides exchanged views on internship placements, safety arrangements, and the company’s talent needs, laying a solid foundation for the continued delivery of internship programs and deeper university–enterprise collaboration.

This visit to the internship bases is an important step in the College’s efforts to deepen the integration of industry and education, strengthen practical learning, and support students’ development. The College will continue to make use of high-quality university–enterprise partnerships, improve collaborative talent development, refine its talent development programs, and further strengthen its off-campus internship and training bases. By aligning more closely with industry needs, the College aims to enhance students’ practical abilities and competitiveness in the workplace, and to prepare more highly skilled, practice-oriented professionals to support the high-quality development of the industry.
