Books Lead to the Future, Exploring Ancient Cities, Strengthening the Spirit of the Group
On October 19, 2024, members of theQingma Camp, the Youth League Department, and the Party Branch of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering at Shenzhen University gathered in the ancient city of Dapeng, Shenzhen. They held a meaningful book donation and team-building event. The activity was led by Feng Zhiyan, the Deputy Secretary of the College's Youth League Committee, with a total of 30 participants.
Visiting the Ancient City with Books
In the morning, the team members brought over 160 donated books from teachers and students of the College of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering to the“V Love Bookhouse” in Dapeng Ancient City. During the donation, everyone witnessed the transmission of knowledge and the inheritance of culture. The donated books cover the reading needs of students of different age groups, including traditional Chinese literary classics such asThe Romance of the Three Kingdoms,Water Margin,Journey to the West, andDream of the Red Chamber, as well as science fiction books likeThe Three-Body Problem,Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, andFoundation that children love. Additionally, there are works by famous authors that inspire young minds, such asMorning Flowers Picked at Dusk,The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, andLetters from the Fu Lei Family. This activity was not only a book donation but also a spiritual transmission. The books will be sent to children in remote areas, providing valuable learning resources to those in need.
Breaking the Ice and Exploring the Ancient City
Later, under the guidance of the coach, the students participated in ice-breaking activities. The participants formed a circle and a student was randomly selected to start counting from 1 to 3. Students with the same number formed a team and played a self-introduction game to help everyone get to know each other better. The team leaders, nominated by the team members, then received task cards. These tasks included group photos at historical sites and shops, as well as challenges like using a piece of paper to circle the entire team. The cleverly designed activities tested the team’s strategic planning and teamwork abilities while allowing everyone to experience a journey through time by exploring the ancient city’s historical landmarks.
Sunshine and Beach
Finally, the team moved to the first beach in Nan’ao, where they participated in thrilling name-tag tearing and tug-of-war competitions. Against the backdrop of the sunny beach, the students sweated freely, showcasing their youthful energy and teamwork spirit. These activities not only strengthened friendships but also enhanced physical fitness and teamwork skills.
“As action leads to knowledge, the more one knows, the further one can go.” This event was not only a transmission of knowledge but also a spiritual exchange, providing each student with a sense of achievement and happiness. The students expressed their commitment to turning these insights into practical actions, striving for excellence, and letting their youth bloom.
