From November 22 to 25, the final of the 10th Chinese Undergraduate Physics Experiment Tournament was held at Beihang University. Our school’s four teams, which made it to the national finals, competed fiercely in two stages: public presentations and defense reviews. As a result, they won three first-place awards in the “Assigned Topic Physical Work” category and one first-place award in the “Self-Selected Physical Work” category at the national finals!

This year’s competition featured three categories: “Assigned Topic Works”, “Self-Selected Works”, and “Physics Experiment Lectures”. The competition was organized in a three-tier format, including school-level selection, national preliminary rounds, and the national finals. In 2024, a total of 667 universities, 2,755 teams, and 15,715 teachers and students successfully registered for the national preliminary rounds, making it the largest event in terms of participants and scale in the history of the competition, covering nearly 70% of universities across the country that offer physics education.

Our college attached great importance to this competition. The Academic Affairs Office and other relevant departments provided comprehensive support, while the college organized publicity and invited faculty and students to participate in the school-level competition. They actively organized evaluations, provided guidance, and selected candidates. In the provincial competition, three teams that created “Assigned Topic Physical Works” were directly advanced to the national finals. During the final competition, these teams showcased excellent teamwork, stable performance, innovative capabilities, and exceptional style, receiving unanimous praise from the judges.

It is reported that the National Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition (CUPET) has a wide influence in the field of extracurricular scientific competitions for university students. The competition aims to inspire students’ interest and potential in physics experiments and extracurricular scientific activities, foster students' innovative spirit and practical abilities, enhance teamwork and comprehensive quality through competition, and improve the level of physics experiment teaching and the quality of cultivating high-quality innovative talents, thus promoting the implementation of the National “Top Talent Training Program”.

The teaching team led by Professor Zhao Gaiqing has been guiding and nurturing students for the competition and has earned numerous awards over the years. This has attracted many students to participate and ignited their passion for learning and exploration. As a result, students’ abilities in various aspects have been greatly developed and improved. Previous participants have benefited significantly, with their excellent competition results adding luster to their career paths and further studies. Congratulations again to the award-winning students on their triumphant return, and we look forward to more students actively participating and achieving new accomplishments in the coming year.
